Future Plans
Community Supported Agriculture
- In 2014 we
are going to start a CSA or Community Supported
Agriculture. There will only be 50 shares available
and our meat customers will have first offer.
- For 25 years
C.S.A. has become a popular way for consumers to buy
local, seasonal food directly from a farmer.
- Here are the
basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares"
to the public. Typically the share consist of a box
of vegetables, but other farm products may be
included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka
a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return
receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each
week throughout the farming season.
- This
arrangement creates several rewards for both the
farmer and consumer.
- We will have
in 2015 an area to raise Berkshire pigs. This will
balance out and be a value added product to our beef
and vegetable C.S.A.
- Berkshire
pigs are a rare breed of pig originating from the
English county of Berkshire. They are said to be
"Britain's oldest pig breed" and are prized for
juiciness, flavor and tenderness, is pink hued and
heavily marbled.
- Our existing
customers will be offered our Berkshire Pork first.
